Oiri
Small, round and colorfulOiri introduction
Oiri is a type of arare produced in Kagawa prefecture, especially from the Midwest region to the east of Saijo in Ehime prefecture, and is mainly sold as toppings for confectionery such as soft serve ice cream, wedding gifts, and souvenir sweets. The history of oiri is old, and it is said that the custom took root more than 400 years ago, and it is named after the first Marugame feudal lord Himekimi, a farmer in the territory presented arare made by roasting five colors of mochi. Also, the round shape has the meaning of “round your mind and work briskly.” It is similar to the flavor of common hina arare, and the sweetness is modest. The main ingredient is glutinous rice, and although its texture is crispy and chewy, it melts very lightly in the mouth and dissolves in the mouth in an instant. Also, you can enjoy the vivid colors on the look.
