Jabara Citrus
A tangy burst followed by a subtle bitterness
About Jabara Citrus
Jabara Citrus (じゃばら, Jabara) is a rare and unique citrus fruit that was once found growing wild on a single tree in Kitayama Village, Wakayama Prefecture.
Its standout features are its distinct aroma and tangy flavor, along with its high levels of naringin, a compound known to help alleviate symptoms of allergies like hay fever and asthma. Since reports highlighted its effectiveness in easing hay fever, it has become incredibly popular.
Smaller than a typical mandarin orange, Jabara starts off as a vibrant green and ripens to a bright yellow. Its flavor is an intriguing blend of intense sourness followed by a mild bitterness, delivering a "delightfully bitter-savory" taste alongside a smooth and mellow finish.
