About Squid Somen
Squid Somen (イカそうめん, Ika Somen) is a delicacy made by slicing freshly caught Pacific squid from Hakodate into thin, noodle-like strips and enjoying it with flavored soy sauce or dipping broth. The fresh squid has a translucent appearance and offers an incredible crunchy texture that is both firm and satisfying when prepared in noodle form. Allowing the squid to rest for a day after preparation softens the texture slightly, but enhances the natural sweetness of the squid, creating a different yet equally delicious experience.
