Kobara Crimson Wase (小原紅早生, Obara Beni Wase) is a unique mandarin orange variety originally cultivated in Sakaide City, Kagawa Prefecture by farmer Yukiharu Obara. It is a natural mutation of the "Miyagawa Wase" variety and was officially registered as a new Kagawa specialty in 1993.
The most remarkable feature of Kobara Crimson Wase is its vibrant, deep crimson color, which is also reflected in its juicy flesh. The thin peel is easy to remove by hand, and inside, the segments are filled with sweet, flavorful juice. Its bold sweetness and gentle tartness create a rich, satisfying taste unlike any other mandarin orange.
