Horse Meat Ramen
A local specialty of Shichinohe Town in Aomori Prefecture
About Horse Meat Ramen
Shichinohe Town has a long history of raising fine horses, and this unique Horse Meat Ramen (馬肉ラーメン, Baniku ramen) was created as part of efforts to revitalize the region.
Instead of the usual pork chashu, this ramen features tender horse meat slices. The soup, made from horse bone broth, is light and flavorful. Packed with generous amounts of cabbage, carrots, bean sprouts, and wood ear mushrooms, this hearty and satisfying ramen is a must-try local dish.
