Pork Bowl (豚丼, Butadon) has its roots in Obihiro City, located in the Tokachi region, which began raising pigs in the late Meiji era. Pork quickly became a beloved ingredient in the area, and Obihiro is now known as the birthplace of this dish.
The dish features thick slices of pork coated in a flavorful soy-sauce-and-sugar glaze, placed atop a steaming bowl of rice. This hearty and savory specialty has become a signature dish of Obihiro City.
