Hoshiimo (Dried Sweet Potatoes)
The warm aroma will transport you back to nostalgic memories!
Hoshiimo (Dried Sweet Potatoes) introduction
Did you know that Ibaraki Prefecture produces the most dried sweet potatoes in Japan? In fact, about 90% of the nation’s production comes from Ibaraki. Hoshiimo (干し芋, dried sweet potatoes) isn’t just delicious – it’s also packed with nutrition. It’s rich in dietary fiber, low in cholesterol, high in vitamins, and is considered an alkaline food. Truly, it’s hard to find a downside! Many of us have fond memories of childhood winters, placing hoshiimo wrapped in aluminum foil on a stove to roast. The sweet aroma and golden, caramelized edges made for a perfect treat.
