Hodatsushimizu omelet
The town of omelet rice - Hodatsushimizu
About Hodatsushimizu omelet
The birthplace of Mr. Shigeo Kitahashi, the founder of Osaka “Hokkyokusei,” a French chef who created “omelet rice” in the Taisho period, is in Hodatsushimizu-cho, Ishikawa prefecture, and a new local gourmet developed after that is “Hodatsushimizu omelice.” The origin of the birth is that Mr. Shigeo Kitahashi opened a Western-style restaurant called Panya's Diner (now “North Star”) in Osaka, and offered omelets that combine omelets and tomato ketchup rice to regular customers there. In Hodatsushimizu-cho, Ishikawa Prefecture, the “Omurice Village” project started in 2011, and they are working to create an omelet rice village with the participation of townspeople, such as serving original omelet rice at restaurants in the town and holding omelet rice events.
