Seki Aji & Seki Saba Monaka
A Signature Sweet from Saganoseki, Oita

About Seki Aji & Seki Saba Monaka
Seki Aji & Seki Saba Monaka (関あじ関さば最中) is a beloved traditional sweet from Saganoseki, Oita City, in Oita Prefecture. These monaka, or crispy wafer treats, are shaped like the renowned premium fish of the region: Seki Aji (horse mackerel) and Seki Saba (mackerel).
The Seki Aji Monaka is slightly larger and features a filling of sweet red bean paste with chewy mochi inside. The Seki Saba Monaka, on the other hand, is more petite and contains smooth red bean paste without any mochi. Indulge in these unique confections that celebrate the area's famed seafood in a delightful dessert form.
