About Karashi root
The texture of the squishy lotus root and its spiciness because it always goes out into the nose. It is a food that is widely used in Kumamoto Prefecture mainly as a liquor dish.
Kumamoto's specialty 'Karashi-renkon' which is stuffed with wheat miso and Japanese mustard mixed in a lotus root hole and fried in oil with yellow batter, our ancestor Heigoro was the lord of the time in Kanei 9 years ago. It started with a donation to Tadatoshi Hosokawa. Originally made as a healthy food for donor, the root of the lotus contains many ingredients that are good for the body and is said to be good for nourishing tonic.
