Shirakami Abalone (白神あわび, Shirakami awabi) hails from Happo Town in Akita Prefecture, nestled within the expansive Shirakami-Sanchi, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site.

This area is part of the Hachimori Iwadate Prefectural Natural Park, where pristine waters flow abundantly from the mountains to the sea. In this environment, an old, repurposed school has been turned into an abalone farm.
