Shimotsukare
This is a traditional local dish, but recently it has become relatively easy to get.Shimotsukare introduction
On the first day of February (the first morning of the afternoon of February), it is an event meal that is served to Inari Shrine along with red rice. A thankful dish called lucky ones such as amulets, evil spirits, and disease-free disasters. The recipe is made by simmering salmon head, soybeans, root vegetables, and sake lees. I think many people have never heard of the name Shimotsukare, but in Tochigi Prefecture and the northern Kanto region, it is a traditional local dish and it is also a home-cooked dish. There is a legend that you will not get sick if you eat a servant of seven houses. Recently, it has increased its presence, such as holding the “All-Japan Shimotsukare Contest” and potato chips are being sold as well.
