Takezaki Oysters
Large, flavorful oysters that stay plump even when grilled
About Takezaki Oysters
Takezaki Oysters (竹崎カキ, Takezaki Kaki) are the winter delicacy of Tara Town in Saga Prefecture, known as the birthplace of "kakigoya" oyster huts. Praised for their plump texture and generous size, these oysters can weigh up to 150 grams each.
Grown in the low-salinity waters of the Ariake Sea, Takezaki Oysters, a prized brand from Tara Town, are renowned for their natural sweetness. The moment you taste them, their rich sweetness and umami fill your mouth completely. With less moisture in the edible parts, these oysters resist shrinking when grilled, delivering a concentrated, robust flavor that's unmistakably their own.
Tara Town boasts numerous oyster huts where you can enjoy freshly grilled Takezaki Oysters in a warm and lively atmosphere.
