Imabari's beloved soul food: Yakibuta Egg Rice
About Yakibuta Egg Rice
Yakibuta Egg Rice (焼豚玉子飯) is a simple yet satisfying dish featuring tender slices of roasted pork (char siu) and a soft-cooked sunny-side-up egg atop a bed of steamed rice. The dish is completed with a flavorful sauce made from the pork's cooking juices or a soy-based sauce, mixed together for a harmonious taste.
A winner of the West Japan B-1 Grand Prix, Yakibuta Egg Rice has gained immense popularity and is served at over 50 restaurants throughout Imabari City.
