Iga beef is a branded beef raised in the Iga region of Mie Prefecture. It comes from Japanese Black cattle and is said to be a foundation stock for Omi beef. Raised with room to thrive and without stress, the cattle produce beef with sweetness and umami, a melt-in-the-mouth texture, and tenderness to rival heavily marbled beef.
