Towada Bara-yaki (十和田バラ焼き, Towada Bara-yaki) is a beloved local delicacy from Towada City in Aomori Prefecture and a quintessential example of "B-class gourmet" cuisine cherished by the locals. This dish features succulent beef short ribs and a generous amount of onions, cooked in a soy sauce-based sweet and savory glaze until the moisture evaporates on a sizzling hotplate.

Originating in 1958, Towada Bara-yaki was first created at a food stall located near the U.S. Misawa Air Base. Initially served to American soldiers, it gradually gained popularity among local residents and became a staple home-cooked dish in the area.
