About Tannafakuru

Tannafakuru (タンナファクルー, Tannafakuru) is a humble baked treat made with brown sugar, wheat flour, and eggs.

It was created in 1887 by Jiro Tamanaha (Tannafa Jiru), a confectioner from Shuri Mawashi Town. Originally conceived as an affordable alternative to Kunpen, a luxurious court confection, Tannafakuru quickly became a beloved treat among ordinary people. Today, it is celebrated as a classic Okinawan baked confection.

Open a bag to be greeted by the aroma of rich brown sugar. Its soft, fluffy texture, paired with a gentle sweetness from the brown sugar, makes it hard to stop at just one bite.
