Tuna Ramen
A rare delicacy from Kagoshima! "Tuna Ramen"
About Tuna Ramen
Tuna Ramen (まぐろラーメン, Maguro Ramen) was created as a way to promote the town of Kushikino, a port city that once thrived as a hub for distant-water fishing and was renowned for its high tuna catch. In the early 2000s, local restaurant owners, food companies, and dining unions joined forces to develop this unique dish as part of the town’s revitalization efforts.
This ramen features a soy-based broth made from tuna heads and aromatic vegetables like green onions, combined with traditional Japanese seasonings. The tuna served on top is lightly seared, allowing you to enjoy it as-is or dipped into the flavorful soup. The broth, packed with the rich umami of seafood, pairs beautifully with the curly noodles, creating a light yet deeply satisfying bowl of ramen.
