Onsen Manju
Welcome to Izu Nagaoka Onsen - a paradise of abundant hot springs and exquisite steamed buns!
About Onsen Manju
Izu Nagaoka Onsen is a renowned hot spring area boasting 130 natural springs, and one of its most beloved specialties is "Onsen Manju" (温泉まんじゅう, onsen manju), or steamed buns. Each shop offers its unique take on these treats, using ingredients like sake lees, brown sugar, or soy sauce for the dough, and fillings such as sweet bean paste with a touch of salt.
Every October on Sundays, the area hosts the "Onsen Manju Festival," where visitors can enjoy making their own onsen manju or purchasing special festival-exclusive assortments—an event that draws in large, enthusiastic crowds.
With its soothing hot springs, delicious manju, and lively festivals, Izu Nagaoka Onsen is a must-visit destination for travelers seeking relaxation and local delights.
