Mishima Croquette
Crispy on the outside, creamy and naturally sweet inside
About Mishima Croquette
Mishima Croquette (三島コロッケ, Mishima korokke) is made using Mishima potatoes (a special variety of May Queen potatoes) cultivated on the western slopes of Hakone.
These croquettes are delightfully moist and sweet on the inside. Each shop offers its own unique twist with different fillings, shapes, and flavors, giving food lovers an array of options to savor.
■ The Story of Mishima Croquette
On weekends, tourists often explore local attractions like the Mishima Taisha Shrine and Haranobei River. Residents and local businesses wanted these visitors to experience the region's specialty, the Mishima May Queen potato. To promote the local produce and energize the community, Mishima Croquette was created in July 2008 through the collaboration of citizens, shop owners, farmers, local organizations, and the Mishima City government.
■ What Defines a Mishima Croquette?
A true Mishima Croquette is crafted exclusively with Mishima May Queen potatoes grown on the fertile fields of Hakone's western slopes at altitudes below 50 meters. These carefully cultivated potatoes are what make Mishima Croquette distinctly special.
