Ruby of Echizen
Delicious medium-sized tomatoes born in Fukui: "Ruby of Echizen"
About Ruby of Echizen
"Ruby of Echizen" (越のルビー, Koshino Ruby) is a premium brand of medium-sized tomatoes grown exclusively in Fukui Prefecture, Japan.
The variety known as "Ruby of Echizen" was developed at Fukui Prefectural Junior College (currently Fukui Prefectural University). Its name was inspired by the vibrant crimson red of the fruit, and it was chosen by Tsumura Setsuko, a prestigious Akutagawa Prize-winning author from Fukui. The variety was officially registered in 1992.
These medium-sized tomatoes find a sweet spot between large and mini tomatoes, offering a flavor profile that's significantly sweeter than standard large tomatoes. With a thin skin and juicy texture, their taste is so refined and luscious, it’s almost like enjoying a piece of fruit! Truly a standout tomato unlike anything you’ve tried before.
Packed with 2–3 times the Vitamin C and calcium found in regular large tomatoes, they’re not only fantastic for beauty and skincare but also a perfect choice for recovering from summer fatigue.
