Funankogui

About Funankogui

In the Saga Plain that spreads over Saga prefecture, there are many funas that have been stretched over and over again by waterways breeding. “Funankogui” is a live funa wrapped in kelp and simmered with vegetables such as daikon radish and lotus root for a long time in miso or starch syrup. A home-cooked meal stewed so soft that it can be eaten to the bone for hours is an indispensable taste from fall to winter in Saga. It has no fishy smell and has a unique flavor, so it is loved as a local food.
