About Iwata Omoro Curry
In the Enshu region, pork trotters have long been known as "Omoro". The origin of the term is uncertain, but it’s believed to derive from the Ryukyuan word "Omoro".
Traditionally, the pork trotters are carefully prepared and simmered with sugar and soy sauce for a sweet and savory flavor. They are then enjoyed with a tangy miso-vinegar sauce or grilled to perfection for a unique taste.
"Iwata Omoro Curry" was created by local enthusiasts as part of a revitalization project, blending this traditional "Omoro" with the bold flavors of curry. The resulting dish is a local specialty where the tender, slow-cooked Omoro broth harmonizes perfectly with aromatic curry spices.
