Nanbu senbei

About Nanbu senbei

It is a type of senbei made by making dough with flour and water, dipped in sesame seeds and peanuts, and baked.
Aomori and Iwate prefectures are the main production and consumption areas, and are famous in the same area.
It is said that Nanbu senbei originated when Emperor Chokei visited the northern and southern regions during the period of the Northern and Southern Courts, when he was hungry, baked in a kabuto by his vassals and presented it.
It is a baked rice cracker handed down in the former Hachinohe Domain area where the Hachinohe Nanbu clan was the lord's family.
