Mosa Shrimp
A rare delicacy exclusive to the local area
About Mosa Shrimp
Mosa Shrimp (モサエビ, Mosa Ebi) is the local name for deepwater shrimp known as Kurozakoebi in Tottori Prefecture. These shrimp are caught using offshore bottom trawl nets between September and May.
Often overshadowed by the crab season during the same period, Mosa Shrimp remains a hidden gem. With its firm, bouncy texture and richer sweetness than amaebi (sweet shrimp), it offers a truly delicious flavor. However, due to its rapid loss of freshness, it cannot be shipped to far-off areas, making it a rare treat that can only be enjoyed locally.
