Take a big bite that’ll make your eyes widen with surprise!
About Mehari Sushi
Mehari Sushi (めはり寿司) is a traditional dish from the Kumano region, which spans across Wakayama and Mie Prefectures, as well as the Yoshino region in Nara Prefecture.
It consists of rice balls wrapped in lightly pickled takana mustard greens and was originally made as a convenient meal for workers in the mountains or fields during their breaks.
The name “Mehari” is said to come from the expression “opening one’s mouth wide enough to make one's eyes widen.”
