Wasanbon Sugar from Awa
The natural flavor and gentle charm of the land
เกี่ยวกับ Wasanbon Sugar from Awa
Wasanbon Sugar (和三盆糖, Wasanbon tō) is a rare, traditional Japanese sugar made from a local sugarcane variety known as "Taketō" or "Chikusha," which has been cultivated in parts of Tokushima and Kagawa Prefectures. Even today, it is produced using traditional methods with minimal reliance on modern machinery.
The sugar is called Awa Wasanbon Sugar as it originates from Tokushima Prefecture, historically known as Awa Province. After the influx of inexpensive refined sugar imports during the postwar period, the number of producers declined. Now, it is primarily used as a sugar for Japanese confections.
Its simple yet refined sweetness beautifully enhances the flavors of sweets, adding an elegant touch to every bite.
