Ashiyan Squid
A satisfying texture with a hint of sweetness
About Ashiyan Squid
Ashiyan Squid (あしやんいか, Ashiyan ika) is a branded spear squid caught in the Hibikinada Sea off the coast of Ashiya Town, one of western Japan's prime fishing grounds for this delicacy.
Known for its firm and fresh meat, it’s perfect for sashimi. The squid delivers a delightful crunch with each bite, followed by a subtle sweetness that fills your palate. You can enjoy this exceptional dish as sashimi at Chikuzen Ashiya "Umi no Eki," managed by the Onga Fisheries Cooperative, or at local restaurants in the town marked with special banners.
