Kurobe Dam Curry (黒部ダムカレー, Kurobe damu kare) is a curry rice dish inspired by the iconic Kurobe Dam, a famous tourist destination in Toyama Prefecture.
During the construction of the Kurobe Dam, curry was a comforting meal for the workers. After the dam's completion, the "Arch Curry," the original version of this dish, was first served at the Omachi Clubhouse in the Hinatayama Highlands.
The rice is shaped like the dam's iconic arch, representing the dam's wall, while the curry sauce resembles the reservoir lake. This creative presentation brings the impressive sight of the Kurobe Dam to your plate!
