Kinman
A beloved Akita confection everyone in Akita knows
Kinman introduction
Kinman (金萬, Kinman) has its origins thanks to Masami Ouchi, the first-generation creator, who, inspired by observing manju (steamed buns) being made in Tokyo, decided to try making them himself. He started baking them near Akita Station. The name "Kinman" comes from a historical area in Akita called Kanza Street, where manju was once sold. Kinman is a traditional Japanese sweet made with smooth white bean paste infused with eggs, wrapped in a thin layer of honey-flavored castella dough. Bite-sized and easy to enjoy, this castella-style manju offers a refined and delicate sweetness that highlights the natural quality of its ingredients.
