Imo Mochi
Warm and fluffy with the rich flavor of sweet potatoes
Imo Mochi introduction
Imo Mochi (いももち, Imo mochi) is a traditional dish from Sado Island, originally created as a substitute for rice, which was scarce in the area. Today, it remains a beloved sweet snack and can even be found in local supermarkets. Made by steaming sweet potatoes and mixing them lightly with sugar and a bit of flour, the mixture is shaped into rectangular pieces and dried. The surface is delightfully crisp and fragrant, while the inside is soft, warm, and bursting with sweet potato goodness.
