Botan Nabe
Light yet rich in flavor, with high-quality fat and minimal gaminess
Botan Nabe introduction
Botan Nabe (ぼたん鍋, Botan nabe) is a traditional dish from Wakinosawa in Mutsu City, located in the northernmost region of Honshu's Shimokita Peninsula. The wild boar raised in Wakinosawa develop a layer of fat to endure the harsh winters, resulting in tender meat with a light, refined taste, rich and high-quality fat, and very little gaminess. This unique dish can be enjoyed at local eateries and guesthouses in the Wakinosawa area of Mutsu City.
