Ikameshi introduction

Famous local dishes from Hakodate and Oshima regions. It is said that “ikameshi” was invented as an ekiben of Mori Station on the Hakodate Main Line, as rice shortages in food control intensified during World War II. The ingredients I used as “a dish that can save a little rice” were easily available because they were caught in large quantities in the province of Hokkaido at that time. Ikameshi, which is cooked with squid stuffed with rice, has a reputation for being easy to eat, and it is still a popular ekiben that many people buy every time a train arrives.
